Some advices to learn a new language

Ciao! Here some advices that I hope could be useful to whom is starting the process of learning a new language, in this case, Italian. They come from my own experience as student and as language teacher. 1. DON'T RUSH. If you are learning a new language for pleasure, for work and you don't have a deadline such as an exam at university, take it easy! Lots of students, when they start a new course they ask me: 'How long to become fluent'? At the beginning I used to say something like 'few years, maybe 4,5'. But now my answer is 'A lifetime and it won't be enough.' Learning a language requires time, dedication and practice. Plus, we all have different learning style. 2. PRACTICE OUTSIDE THE CLASS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. Don't be shy! Use the language whenever you can! Is your boyfriend Italian? Then why are you still talking in English?
