Per cominciare...to start

There are few apps that can help you in learning a language.

Duolingo is the first one I would like to recommend. Fun and easy to use, it is great to use on the bus or if you have 10,15 minutes spare. It is great to start, however, my opinion is that you will learn lot of vocabulary (some not so useful...like how to say 'whale' in Italian ๐Ÿค”) and not enough 'sentence structure'. That means knowing a huge amount of words but not always know how to put them together in a sentence.

Memrise another fun app, the basic version is free, you just need to sign up. A bit more challenging compared to Duolingo, but for me, the two are complementary. It is based on memorization (memorize words and example sentences)

lingq A bit least stimulating compared to the previous two, but still effective, especially for those who prefer a more traditional approach when learning a new language. Basically, the app presents a text and you select the words that don't know. Dictations and multiple choice exercises come with the Premium version

Hello talk This is an interesting app, that allows you to chat with natives. A bit like WhatsApp and it is free!

Babbel The first lesson is free, but if you want to follow the whole course, you need to pay for it. Every course has a certain number of lessons, that changes in relation to the language itself. Lessons are interesting and pace is good, but I think you can reach the same result with free apps.

What else can you do?
Check on youtube: it is becoming popular amongst Italian teachers to create their own channel. They upload videos on different topics, on specific grammar points, there is a bit of everything!
Some of them publish in English, others in Italian: don't worry if you can't understand, it is absolutely normal. The first time you will understand maybe...5%? Awesome, then keep on trying, and after the 20th times (๐Ÿ˜), I'm sure you will understand much more!

Build up your own vocabulary with quizlet, another useful app. You sign up and create your own lists of vocabulary; the app automatically will create a set of flashcards and some exercises to challenge you. Great for revision as well.

Listen to the language of love ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ with news in slow Italian. You can use the basic version for free and listen to some news and interesting facts about Italy and Italians.

Do you have any other app that you would like to recommend?
Or did you try one of those and you are happy to share your opinion? Please do it!
